Mexican Onyx is a variety of calcium carbonate (calcite) that formed as travertine or tufa with impurities, which give it its beautiful banding and colors. Mexican Onyx is also known as Onyx Marble or Egyptian Alabaster and is classified as marble as it has the same mineral content.

Metaphysically speaking, Mexican Onyx is the Stone of Confidence. It helps focus the mind, releasing negative thoughts and emotions. Mexican Onyx is excellent for removing self-doubt, encouraging positive thoughts, and awakening inner strength. It works with the solar plexus, third eye, and crown chakras.
